I’m a writer, editor, and podcaster. After almost a decade in Madrid I consider myself a full Madrileña adoptada.

Originally from Bournemouth, I spent my childhood not at the beach, but chronically online writing Twilight fan fiction…and a bunch of other stuff I hope never sees the light of day.

I went on to study English Literature and Classical Studies at the University of Reading, where I upgraded to writing greek mythology fan fiction. I was also lucky enough to join Penguin Random House and Hachette for short-term work placements.

For the past ten years, I’ve balanced a full time marketing career with my all-consuming love of books. I call it my ‘self-led unpaid publishing internship.’ In that time, I’ve:

• Finished my debut novel; Venice — now being queried with literary agents

• Published a short story in The Madrid Review

• Hosted and produced The Madrid Review Podcast

• Co-hosted events with The European Writers Salon

• Honed my editing skills with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading, and The Institute of Publishing (formerly The Publishing Training Centre)

• Spent many, many hours in feedback groups both in-person with The Madrid Writers Group, and online with The London Writers Salon

It was in these feedback groups that I discovered my love of editing and giving critique. While it didn’t come with a certificate, it taught me so much about what writers really need and where they get stuck.

The best part about being a writer is that there is no competition. Only colleagues.
